North west duo aim for portfolio of five

Jamie Whittaker and Kelly Vickers are aiming to establish a portfolio of five family-friendly pubs in Cheshire.

North west operators Jamie Whittaker and Kelly Vickers have said they are aiming to establish a portfolio of five family-friendly pubs in Cheshire and the north west in the next three years.

Having recently taken on their second Star Pubs & Bars lease in three years through The White Bear in Knutsford, their intention is to add a third Star pub this year.

The couple are undertaking a joint £200,000 investment with Star to create the best family-friendly local and beer garden in town. Ten jobs are to be created on the back of the investment, which will also see food introduced.

“Knutsford is a beautiful town but was missing a good quality offer for families," says Vickers. "We could immediately see the potential of The White Bear. It’s like a country pub transplanted into the town.”

Outside, an alfresco eating and drinking area is being created with seating for 60.

The couple also run The Pig on the Wall in Droylesden.
