Robinsons acquires Cheshire site

Robinsons Brewery has acquired The Swettenham Arms in the Dane Valley.

Robinsons Brewery has acquired The Swettenham Arms in the Dane Valley, as the Stockport-based brewer continues the expansion of its managed estate.

The addition of the Cheshire pub adds to the growing number of managed pubs and inns operated by Robinsons, taking the collection to 23 properties.

Based in the picturesque village of Swettenham, next to the Lovell Quinta Arboretum, The Swettenham Arms has been operated by the Cunningham family for the past 28 years, who are stepping back from the business.

“While it’s been sad for me to finally say goodbye to the Arms, I’m excited to see it go forwards with its new owners,” says Frances Cunningham. “Most of my wonderful staff will be staying on for continuity, and I hope the Arms will continue to be both the local asset and popular destination it’s always been.”

“We are proud to be acquiring a magnificent property, set in a stunning location," says William Robinson, joint managing director of Robinsons Brewery. "The Cunningham family have built a strong business with an excellent reputation, and we look forward to building on that success when we add the Swettenham Arms to our collection of managed pubs and inns at the end of August."
