Promoted: Licensed Trade Charity – Whatever your money worries

Money makes the world go round, so they say. And when there isn’t enough money to go round, it can feel like your world has stopped.

The Licensed Trade Charity supports people in the drinks trade and offers a range of practical and emotional support in areas such as housing, health, education and training.

A key area of support is money and last year the Charity awarded over 4,750 grants to help those in need. The Charity’s website also offers a benefits calculator and several helpsheets on common financial issues and, through the Charity, members of the licensed trade can get free access to a service called nudge, to help them understand their finances and get them in a better place.

Grants are available for a range of needs from help with essential household repairs and furnishings, to support with utility bill arrears and income top up for those who need to take a break from work due to serious illness.

Most of the Charity’s services are free to anyone who has worked in the industry, irrespective of length of service, but there is a minimum qualifying period of five years for grants. However those years don’t need to be consecutive and applicants don’t need to currently be working in the trade.

Carolyn Jenkinson, head of charity services at the Licensed Trade Charity, said; “The financial effect of recent lockdowns has been crippling for many, especially for anyone who already had debts.

“Financial hardship can feel like being trapped in a downward spiral, but we’re here for you.  The awards we make are grants, not loans, so they don’t need to be repaid. Sometimes just a small amount can make all the difference between sleepless nights and standing on your own two feet again.”

Whatever your worry, the Licensed Trade Charity is here to support you, for life. Visit the website www.licensedtradecharity.org.uk or call the free 24/7 helpline on 0808 801 0550 to find out more.
