Promoted: LTC supports over 73,000 pub, bar and brewery people

The Licensed Trade Charity has been supporting pub, bar and brewery workers for over 200 years. Established in 1793, the Charity has expanded its services in line with demand and today offers a range of practical and emotional support in areas such as finance, housing, health, education and training, including outplacement assistance. Most services are free to anyone who has worked in the industry, irrespective of length of service, but there is a minimum qualifying period of five years for the Charity’s financial support.

The Charity has seen a steady growth in demand for help in recent years, and last year the number of people reaching out for support more than trebled to 73,171 compared to 2019.

Carolyn Jenkinson, head of charity services at the Licensed Trade Charity, said; “The increase in demand for our services is testament to the impact of the pandemic on those working in the hospitality industry.

“Demand for our mental health and financial support has been particularly high. Many hospitality workers have gone into the industry because they are highly social, so the impact of taking away that circle of support has been particularly severe for a lot of licensed trade people.

“The financial effect of lockdown has also been crippling, especially for anyone who already had debts, or those with live-in roles, who have lost not just their jobs, but the roof over their heads.
