Pubs retain Michelin stars
No new pubs managed to gain the elusive accolade.
A total of 20 UK pubs have retained their Michelin stars, after the fine dining guide revealed its awards for 2024.
Held in Manchester for the first time, no new pubs managed to gain the elusive accolade at the annual Michelin Guide awards ceremony, but 20 did retain their stars (listed below).
While the likes of Tom Kerridge (pictured) were happy to see their gastropubs maintain the standards seen to be given the Michelin nod in the first place, it was a relatively quiet night for pubs when it came to new announcements.
Exmoor Forest Inn picked up a Green star, which was introduced to The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland in 2021 to highlight the sites at the forefront of the industry when it comes to their sustainable practices.
Ahead of the Michelin Guide Ceremony on Monday 5 February, five pubs were named among 20 new businesses to receive a Bib Gourmand for 2024.
Michelin in Manchester
With the 2024 ceremony being held at The Midland Hotel in Manchester, there had been much speculation that the city and its surrounding areas would increase its presence within the guide.
Such predictions didn't materliase, despite a further 18 UK restaurants gaining a new Michelin star.
One of the biggest reveals of the night was The Ledbury in London becoming the ninth UK restaurant to achieve a three-Michelin star rating.
London was the leading city when it came to new accolades, with 11 restaurants gaining their first stars. Akoko and Chishuru helped to put West African cuisine in the spotlight by both gaining a star, while London’s Japanese dining scene was represented with the classic omakase experience at Sushi Kanesaka and the creative Humble Chicken.
