Metropolitan reopens Clerkenwell classic
The Wilmington has undergone a refurbishment and menu overhaul.
The Wilmington, a listed 19th century pub in London's Clerkenwell, has reopened its doors after undergoing a refurbishment and menu overhaul.
Sat opposite Exmouth Market, the Metropolitan Pub Company site has welcomed new head chef Jamie Cousins to lead the kitchen, adding to the area's renowned foodie reputation.
With a focus on shared dining, The Wilmington is introducing a feasting menu which will be available for pre-orders later this year.
Also being added at the end of September is the brand-new Sunday sharing cuts menu served family style, including cote de boeuf, lamb rack, beef wellington and whole roasted chicken.
From the a la carte, Cousins will be preparing hake with cider, saucisson, peas, cavolo nero, tarragon and pommes anna; rabbit, madeira, bacon and leek pie; and woodland mushrooms served with rainbow chard, pickled girolles and borlotti beans.
Investing continues
Metropolitan Pub Company, owned by Greene King, has 72 sites in the UK. The group is currently investing heavily in its London sites, with works recently completed at The George on the Strand, The Merchant of Battersea, Leadenhall market’s renowned New Moon and The Williams Ale and Cider House.
The Mitre in Holland Park is the next of its city pubs to receive a refurb and will benefit from a £750,000 makeover and menu overhaul, reopening on 7 October of this year.
