Liberation Group chairman to step down

Richard Grainger will be stepping down as the chairman of Liberation Group.

Richard Grainger will be stepping down as the chairman of Liberation Group in the summer, after seven years in the role.

During this period, Grainger has overseen significant growth of the business, both organically and via acquisitions, most recently via the combination with Cirrus Inns

"It has been an immense pleasure to chair such a vibrant and exciting business and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the board, Jonathan [Lawson, CEO] and the rest of the executive team," says Grainger. "We have successfully come through the challenges posed by the pandemic as a fitter, stronger and larger business and placed ourselves in the best position possible to be one of the winners in this sector. The time now feels right to bring in a new chair to work with the team and [owners] Caledonia on maximising the potential of this fantastic business and I wish them all the best."

Liberation has told Pub & Bar that news on Grainger's successor will follow in due course.

"I would like to personally thank Richard for his guidance and counsel over the last four and a half years which has always been appreciated and valued," says Lawson. "He leaves us in a strong position to progress and achieve our ambitions as a business and team."
