The bar brand launched by restaurant group Fridays is to open its next site in Edinburgh, the business has announced.
The new location for 63rd+1st, part of the newly-listed Hostmore plc, will be situated on Frederick Street in the centre of Scotland’s capital city. Opening its doors in Q2 of 2022, the venue will be the fifth 63rd+1st to open within a year.
Named after 63rd Street and 1st Avenue in Manhattan, New York, 63rd+1st was launched by Fridays at the end of 2020. It focuses on cocktails, while offering a food menu inspired by the street food scene of Manhattan.
“We are delighted to be bringing the fifth 63rd+1st to the capital of Scotland, a city we know well, and in doing so continue to share the 63rd+1st experience with guests from across this great city and region," says Robert B. Cook, CEO of 63rd+1st. "Situated a stone’s throw from George Street, and a short walk from most of Edinburgh’s great hospitality venues, we simply love the location of our first Edinburgh venue."
The first 63rd+1st location opened in Cobham, Surrey, in May 2021 with the second location following in Glasgow in September 2021 and third in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, opening in November 2021. Cambridge was recently named as the location for the fourth venue, with the brand aiming for over 10 sites by the end of 2023.
Pub & Bar readers can learn more about the business in the February 2022 edition of the magazine, which features a lead interview with operations director Graeme Nesbitt.
