Pub operators back recruitment fundraiser

Operators are backing a new project that aims to rescue the hospitality recruitment crisis.

A number of pub operators are backing a new project that aims to reignite and rescue the hospitality recruitment crisis.

The initiative is called Hospitality Rising and is being led by former Pret a Manger and YO! Sushi marketer Mark McCulloch. It is being backed by operators including Peach PubsPunch Pubs, Buzzworks, The Dog at Wingham, ARC Inspirations and Loungers, among others.

Hospitality Rising, which launches its fundraiser this week, is aiming to raise £5m to launch a recruitment campaign to attract more talent into the industry as it starts to recover and build back its muscle post-Brexit and following the impact of the pandemic.

It has already raised £200,000 pre-fundraising launch from a range of companies backing the campaign.

“The support we’ve had from the industry and some of our marketing contacts has been amazing," says McCulloch. "We now need to raise enough money to really land a high profile that will both attract people back into the industry or make those who haven’t considered our sector as a viable, exciting, creative and rewarding career.”
