Parched takes on its seventh London site

Parched has taken over The Clock House opposite Peckham Rye park.

A fast-moving south east London pub company is set to open its seventh venue, as recent expansion continues to gather pace.

Parched, which is behind Peckham venues such as The Montpelier and The White Horse, has taken over The Clock House opposite Peckham Rye park, a former Young's pub.

Following a renovation across its two floors, the site will be renamed Clock House Tavern and is set to reopen on 19 September.

The restored interior will feature oak panelling, antique mirrors and leather banquette seating, complete with a dart board area. As well as the main bar, the pub will have a snug area with a fireplace and a back area for food and parties. The upstairs bar offers views of Peckham Rye park.

"We are beyond excited to be opening the Clock House Tavern right in our community," says Parched co-founder Neil Watson (pictured right). "The pub is in such a fantastic location. It has great history and so much charm."

The food

Taking over the kitchen at Clock House Tavern is Gengelly's, led by chef duo George Genn and Laurence Pengelly. Gengelly’s first Parched residency in the Earl Of Derby opened to critical acclaim.

Continuing its legacy, the menu will focus on bold and unfussy dishes, such as grilled fish and steaks, seasonal flatbreads and fresh pasta, as well as the classic Sunday roast.
