Bloomsbury Leisure Group to open on The Strand
Bloomsbury Leisure Group will soon open its latest pub The Stranded.

One of the most iconic streets in London is set to welcome a new pub this month, as the Bloomsbury Leisure Group prepares its latest venue The Stranded.
Opening its doors next to Coutts on the Strand, the group says The Stranded isn’t just another pub, but "a bold new statement in the capital’s beer scene".
The venue will feature a 13-metre Czech-built bar and specialist side-pour taps. Bloomsbury Leisure says the bar will have an uncompromising commitment to lager excellence and to their essential roles as 'tapsters'.
"The Stranded is more than a new pub," says Jon Dalton, founder and director of Bloomsbury Leisure Group, which has venues across Manchester, London and Bristol. "It’s a fresh standard for lager, an education in pouring, and a love letter to beer done properly.
"We think there's an appetite from London’s lager drinkers for this and can’t wait to deliver delicious beer that’s treated with the respect it deserves."
Side hustle
The traditional Czech side-pour tap, a tool rarely seen in the UK, allows the tapster to pour quickly and with control, creating the dense, wet foam that’s essential to a perfect Czech pour.
The side-pour faucet aerates the beer as it flows, thanks to a small screen inside the spout, producing a creamy, silky head that’s designed to seal in freshness.
A longer spout is designed to be submerged in the beer as the glass fills, giving the tapster total control over the balance of beer and foam.
Alongside its Czech lagers, The Stranded will offer give rotating keg lines and four carefully kept cask ale lines.
The Bloomsbury Leisure Group operates a collection of pubs and bowling alleys across London, Bristol, and Manchester. Its venues include Euston Tap, Piccadilly Tap and The Pelt Trader, as well as the Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes and The Kingpin Suite.
