Innovation in Training Awards winners revealed
The National Innovation in Training Awards winners have been crowned.
The British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) has revealed the winners of its National Innovation in Training Awards (NITAs).
Recognising excellence in people development of teams and individuals from across the hospitality sector, the NITAs evening ceremony followed the BII People Conference during the day.
At the awards ceremony, Best Training Programme: Apprenticeships went to Marston’s; Best Training Programme: Sustainability to Punch Pubs & Co.; and Best Training Programme: Individual Operator to Steve Banks from The Woodman.
Elewhere on the night, Best Training Programme: Managed & Partnerships, Over 500 went to Marston’s Investment; Best Training Programme: Managed & Partnerships, Under 500 was awarded to Butcombe Pubs & Inns; and Best Recruitment Strategy to Brewhouse & Kitchen.
Brewhouse and Marston's steal the show
Brewhouse & Kitchen scooped a second gong, winning the Online Training Platform; Training Professional of the Year went Simon Haslam of JSH Solutions; and Equity, Diversity & Inclusivity to Marston’s. Hospitality Apprentice of the Year: Kitchen was awarded to Handerline Morency of Fuller’s; while Hospitality Apprentice of the Year: Front of House & Management went to Alex Marshall, Brewhouse & Kitchen.
"At the heart of what we do at the BII is championing and supporting the professional development of operators and their teams," says Steve Alton, BII CEO (above right). "Our NITAs award winners were truly brilliant, and it was a real privilege to be able to recognise the incredible talent and dedication to training and development that the companies and individuals in our sector deliver every single day."
The awards culminated in the Franca Knowles Live Your Life Award, presented by Luke Knowles, CEO of Beds and Bars. Decided by a panel of previous winners, this year the award went to Phil Thorley of Thorley Taverns (above middle).
