Greene King predicts 7m pint sales during Euros

Greene King has said it expects to sell 7m pints across its managed estate during the matches.

As pubs and bars prepare for the start of UEFA Euro 2024, operator and brewer Greene King has said it expects to sell 7m pints across its managed estate during the tournament’s matches.

The prediction is based on sales in Greene King managed pubs during Euro 2024 match-time, along with the assumption that England reach the final Round of 16.

Greene King has predicted that the opening match between Germany and Scotland will be among the most popular, with customers expected to buy more than 415,000 pints across the 90 minutes.

The pub company is also anticipating a big turnout for England’s first match against Serbia on Sunday, when it anticipates more than 250,000 pints will be sold in its pubs across the country.

"The local pub has always been at the heart of the community and that is never clearer than during sporting events," says Greene King CEO Nick Mackenzie. "This year's Euro's is the start of a fantastic summer of sport that will be a great boost for the hospitality sector. During the tournament, we're expecting to welcome even more people through our doors as fans unite to cheer on their teams."
