The Pig group to take on first pub

Home Grown Hotels has acquired the 17th century Barnsley House.

The business that runs The Pig group has acquired a Cotswold hotel that comes with its own village pub.

Home Grown Hotels, led by chairman Robin Hutson, has acquired the 17th century Barnsley House, located in the Cotswolds village of Barnsley, four miles from Cirencester.

Barnsley House hotel also features a village pub, meaning the purchase will create the first pub operation under The Pig brand.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have acquired Barnsley House, it has been in my peripheral vision for many years as a possible acquisition, always thinking it would make a perfect ‘Pig’ and we are very excited to have our first pub too," says Hutson.

More openings

In February, The Pig team will go in to start the works to turn the property into an operation reminiscent of The Pig concept, with a view to opening the doors this summer as 'The Pig and The Village Pub'.

Over the next 18 months, Home Grown Hotels will also open The Pig on the Farm in Stratford-Upon-Avon (end of 2024) and The Pig at Groombridge in Tunbridge Wells in summer 2025.

There are currently eight Pig hotels around the country.
