Admiral Taverns invests £690,000 in three pubs

The Black Lion in Bramley, The Spinners in Leigh and The Bear on Bedford high street have all been transformed.

The Proper Pubs division of Admiral Taverns has invested over £690,000 into three community pubs.

The Black Lion

The Black Lion on Broad Lane, Bramley, Leeds, reopened on Thursday 16 November following its £210,000 refurbishment.

Part of the Proper Pubs division of Admiral Taverns, the venue has undergone a complete internal and exterior transformation.

Outside, the beer garden has been redeveloped to include new lighting and seating that can be used all year round.

"Opening night was fantastic. It was amazing to see all our customers, old and new, coming to see what the pub has to offer," says Collett Holmes, operator of The Black Lion.

The Spinners

The Spinners in Leigh also reopened on 16 November following a combined investment of £250,000. The funding has enabled licensees, mother and daughter duo Karen and Naomi Baird, to breathe new life into the venue.

Internally, the pub features two new bars, flooring and furniture throughout. Outside, the beer garden, which seats up to 50 people, has been redeveloped with festive lighting and furniture.

Naomi Baird, manager of The Spinners, comments: "We have exciting plans to ensure the pub thrives within the community and we want to create a social hub that is welcome to everyone, from families and children to couples. We will also be looking to support the community wherever we can, as well as local causes."

The Bear

The company has also invested in The Bear on Bedford high street, which reopened on 15 November following a £237,000 refurbishment.

Inside, the venue features new furniture, flooring, fixtures, fittings, two flat-screen TVs and a pool table. The refreshed outside space has new lighting and signage, with a beer garden that has the capacity to seat 30 people.
