Coronation weekend delivers reasonable results

The coronation of King Charles III delivered a reasonable result for the UK on-trade.

The coronation of King Charles III delivered a reasonable result for the UK on-trade in terms of sales, according to the Oxford Partnership. 

Despite the wet weather, the Coronation weekend saw drinkers consume 50.5m pints of draught beer and cider across the UK, which was up 5.7% versus the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend in 2022.

An average pub sold 1,335 pints over the course of the weekend, which drove a £6,006 in cash revenue.

Total beer sales were up 6.2% verses 2022, with this growth being driven by world lager increasing by 20.9% and stout by 11.7%.

Apple cider also had a strong weekend, up 6.1%, as well as ale being up by 6.6%. Flavoured cider, according to the market intelligence business, was marginally down.
