Chickpea Group to open fifth pub

Wiltshire pub operator the Chickpea Group will take on a new pub this spring, adding to its collection of country sites with rooms across the county.
The group's fifth pub is The Queen’s Head in the village of Broad Chalke. The pub itself dates back to the 19th century, sitting in a rural setting in the heart of the Chalke Valley in Wiltshire.
The renovation of the new pub will be a two-phase project.
Chickpea founders Ethan and Jordan Davids and Tommy Tullis plan to initially close for refurbishment, which will involve opening up the bar and restaurant. They will also undertake menial works to the kitchen, communal areas and outside space.
The existing four bedrooms, which are housed in an annexe building to the rear of the pub, will be refurbished to be more in keeping with the group’s style. The team will work with local makers to furnish the bedrooms and plans are also in place to develop an extra five letting rooms above the pub, with work set to start in the summer.
Chickpea Group operates four pubs with rooms and pizza shops in the south west of England. Owned and run by brother and sister Ethan and Jordan Davids, along with their friend Tommy Tullis, its latest addition The Bell & Crown was named Sunday Times Pub of the Year 2023.
