Three AA rosette-holder Andy Sheridan is launching a pub in Gloucestershire this spring.

Sheridan (pictured), who runs the restaurant 8 in Birmingham city centre, will transform The Red Lion in Newent as the first pub project of the About Dining group, founded by husband and wife team Sam and Emma Morgan.

The chef and his business partners will also bring a second branch of Black & Green to Newent, having successfully launched in Barnt Green near Birmingham in 2022. Black & Green is listed by Michelin, AA, Harden’s and The Good Food Guide.

"We’ve got the right team on board and so the time is right to launch a second offering like that of Black & Green," says Sam Morgan. "It’ll be beside a beautiful, country pub, deep in the heart of rural Gloucestershire. People will be able to eat and drink well at the pub, with a simple menu, or, if they want to enjoy something a little special, they can pop next door to the aptly named Severn & Wye, which will be adjacent to the pub.”

Opening dates for the The Red Lion in Newent and the adjacent Severn & Wye will be announced shortly.

"We are expanding considerably in 2023 and I can’t wait to bring our food to Gloucestershire," adds Sheridan.
