Give the Gift of Going Out backed by Mayor

The Give the Gift of Going Out initiative has been publicly backed by Andy Burnham.

Greater Manchester’s ‘Give the Gift of Going Out’ initiative has been publicly backed by Andy Burnham, mayor of Greater Manchester.

Launched by Sacha Lord, Greater Manchester’s night time economy adviser (right), the initiative aims to support the city-region’s hospitality industry by encouraging the public to support their favourite pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels, theatres and live gig venues by gifting family and friends a night out this Christmas.

With less than 20 days until Christmas, the initiative has now been joined by over 130 pubs, bars and restaurants across the city.

“It’s fair to say that local businesses in Greater Manchester haven’t had an easy ride in the past couple of years, and these winter months will be no different," says Burnham (left). “Despite this, we know they will continue to brighten up our towns and cities over the winter period, and give a warm welcome to visitors from far and wide.

"A voucher for a meal, a drink out or another experience in one of our city-region’s great hospitality venues, is not just a great gift idea for your friends and family this festive season, it is also helping to support Greater Manchester’s local businesses into January and the New Year.”
