St Austell creates flexible career scheme
St Austell Brewery has launched a new flexible and inclusive careers scheme called Pub Flex.
St Austell Brewery, the south west pub company, has launched a new flexible and inclusive careers scheme called Pub Flex.
The initiative, which has been created as just one solution to the recruitment shortage across hospitality, focuses on the fact that everybody has different circumstances and responsibilities.
St Austell has launched Pub Flex to attract new team members by offering shifts and hours that suit workers of all ages, all skill sets and from all walks of life.
Whether people are looking to boost their income by picking up extra shifts or work their hours around the school run, the app-based scheme requires no minimum number of weekly or monthly hours to sign up - shifts are posted as soon as they become available.
There are a variety of local job vacancies on the app, from front-of-house to kitchen and housekeeping positions. All roles pay £9.50 per hour, with memebers also receiving 10% off food and drink in all of the St Austell managed pubs.
“We acknowledge that the way we all work has vastly changed in the last 50 years, and Covid only accelerated that change," says Tamsyn Allington, peope and communications director at St Austell Brewery. "Post-pandemic, it’s so important for hospitality businesses like us to offer balance, tangible benefits and genuine flexibility, as well as career paths for those who want to progress in the industry.
“Young people coming into the hospitality sector continues to be essential, but there are so many other groups of people who would be great employees, such as retirees looking for a new challenge or a bit of extra income. We want to offer jobs for people of all ages and from all walks of life in our pubs".
St Austell Brewery owns over 170 pubs, inns and hotels.
