Stonegate celebrates team graduation

Stonegate Group has celebrated the graduation of 38 team members from its internal Accelerator Programme.

Stonegate Group has celebrated the graduation of 38 team members from its internal Accelerator Programme at Stonegate’s Academy in Birmingham. 

The qualification, which is part of the company’s Albert’s Theory of Progression, earmarks graduates for managerial roles and the next step in their careers within the company and the wider hospitality industry.

Stonegate's Accelerator Programme focuses on developing deputy manager skills through education and group learning, so team members can then go forward into a general manager position within the company and industry. The skills that are developed and supported during the programme are the individual’s confidence, effective teamwork and continued independent learning.

This year’s graduation ceremony saw the class of March 2022 celebrate their career achievement and hard work throughout the programme alongside each other, members of the Stonegate learning and development team, and HR director Tim Painter, who also presented the graduates with their certificates during the ceremony. 

“Congratulations to all the individuals that graduated from the Accelerator Programme," says Painter. "This is an incredible career achievement. The programme is a key part of our vision of raising the bar on the British pub, by being the best for our people, our guests and our communities. Later his year, Stonegate Group will be celebrating 10 years of the Accelerator Programme, which has seen over 493 deputy managers progress to general manager level.

Following the acquisition of Ei Group on 3 March 2020 for £1.27bn, Stonegate Group became the largest pub company in the UK. Its portfolio is comprised of over 4,500 sites, split across the managed division and leased and tenanted businesses.

The managed pubs division, which employs over 14,500 people, is split into randed and Traditional pubs. Branded is comprised of Slug & Lettuce, Popworld, Be At One and Venues. Traditional pubs are made up of Proper Pubs, Town Pub & Kitchen, Classic Inns, Common Room and Craft Union.
