Fishermann Pub Group opens third site

Hertfordshire pub operator Fishermann Pub Group is opening its third pub this month, following a joint refurbishment with Star Pubs & Bars.
The Rose & Crown at Welwyn is the second site leased from Star, with the two operators investing £550,000 in the fit-out. The project has transformed the previously wet-led local into a village pub serving food, creating 20 new jobs as a result.
A 17th century, Grade II-listed pub, the project has seen Fishermann retain original features such as flagstone floors and an inglenook fireplace. A kitchen extension has been built so that food can be introduced. The pub has a sports bar with two screens, plus a lounge bar with open fires, comfortable sofas and tables for dining.
“We snapped up The Rose & Crown as soon as we saw it," says Fishermann Pub Group co-founder Pete Mann. "It's a beautiful village pub with fantastic potential. It fits our business model perfectly. We create traditional pubs that cater for every occasion and generate a continual supply of non-seasonal trade. We aim to tick all the boxes whether people want a morning coffee, a good meal out, a pint and a chat or to host a function."
The project has also converted a disused derelict barn into a multifunctional event space seating 50 with its own bar, toilets and big screen. As well as providing over flow trading space for the pub at busy times, it will be hired out for functions ranging from weddings to business conferences. Other external improvements include the addition of a 40-cover terrace for al fresco eating and drinking and a separate family garden accommodating 80 people.
Fishermann Pub Group is now looking for more leased pubs in towns across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire.
