Wren Pubs adds third site to London portfolio

Wren Pubs already operates The Surprise in Chelsea and Notting Hill’s Walmer Castle.

Wren Pubs has announced the takeover of The Carpenter’s Arms in Hammersmith, London.

Run by publican Jack Greenall, Wren Pubs already operates The Surprise in Chelsea and Notting Hill’s Walmer Castle (pictured).

The Carpenter’s Arms is a 19th century pub near St Peter’s Square on the Hammersmith/Chiswick border. It features a garden and a private dining space.

"Characterful and timeless, The Carpenter’s Arms is a gem of a pub and makes for a very special addition to the Wren Pubs family," says Greenall. "Wren Pubs is a people-first brand that focuses on community, quality and above all enjoyment."

What's the plan?

Upholding the legacy of The Carpenter’s Arms, much of the current interior will remain the same and menus will be refreshed in line with the rest of the portfolio, offering modern-British cooking and interesting drinks menus with a focus on championing independent brands.

The Surprise on Chelsea’s Christchurch Terrace was taken over by Jack in May 2021 and was followed by the reopening of the Walmer Castle on Notting Hill’s Ledbury Road in November 2023.

The pubs have an ongoing events series featuring themed talks with diverse speakers, which, in time, will be also established at The Carpenter’s Arms.
