The Mayflower Rotherhithe operator takes on second venue

Paul Graham has taken on The Three Stags in Kennington as a Greene King tenant.

Pub operator Paul Graham has taken on a second site with Greene King Pub Partners, the leased, tenanted and franchise division of Greene King.

Graham, who runs The Mayflower in Rotherhithe – thought to be the oldest pub on the Thames – in partnership with Greene King, has taken on The Three Stags in Kennington as Greene King tenant.

The Three Stags

Located at the intersection of Kennington Road and Lambeth Road in London's Zone One, The Three Stags has received a £265,000 joint investment by Greene King and Graham ahead of its reopening.

Thanks to the investment, the pub has received a full internal and external refurb. Inside, the pub's upper floors have been opened up to create a larger restaurant space and accommodate an all-new kitchen ready to deliver a food-driven offer at a pub.

Outside, the externals have been upgraded while staying true to the building's heritage, including revamping the pub's pre-existing signage.

The venue has a claim to fame as being frequented by Charlie Chaplin's father, Charles Chaplin Senior. As such, the pub's 'Charlie Chaplin Corner' has been retained.

The Three Stags prides itself on serving British pub food with regular specials and premium drinks, including Estrella Galicia, Greene King Hazy Day, Greene King Level head and other craft beer.

"I'm delighted to be opening my second pub with Greene King and growing this partnership," says Graham.

"Like The Mayflower, Then Three Stags is a pub rich in history and so it is a great fit for me and the team.

"The investment in the pub includes a new kitchen, which is key, as the pub will be food-driven for us, but still serving the great beer and other drinks you'd expect of a quintessential British pub."
