Kerridge teams up with athletes on summer burger specials

Weightlifting champion Emily Campbell and Paralympian Naomi Riches MBE have worked alongside Kerridge’s team to create their own limited-edition burgers.

To celebrate an action-packed summer of sport, chef Tom Kerridge is teaming up with two of England's most decorated athletes on a series of collaborative burgers, available at The Butcher's Tap and Grill in both Chelsea and Marlow.

The summer of sporting specials

British weightlifting champion, Emily Campbell, who made history as the first British woman to win a silver medal in the sport, has worked with Kerridge's chef team on the limited-edition 'Clean and Jerk Burger', with £1 from every sale going to Action for Sport. Available from 15 July–27 August, the Clean and Jerk Burger will see fiery jerk chicken topped with smoked applewood cheese, pineapple and sweetcorn salsa and a sweet chilli mayonnaise.

Celebrated Paralympian, Naomi Riches MBE, will join forces with The Butcher's Tap and Grill to honour the Paralympics, which run from 28 August–8 September. With several medals under her belt as an adaptive rower, Riches was awarded an MBE in 2013 for her achievements in the sport.

Riches' 'Taste of Victory Burger' will comprise a crispy fried venison patty with Lyonnaise onions, mature cheddar cheese and wholegrain mustard mayonnaise, topped with a fried pickle. The partnership will see £1 from every sale donated to Meals from Marlow, an initiative set up by Kerridge to deliver meals to those in the surrounding areas.

"I always love watching and supporting our Team GB athletes during the Olympic Games," says the chef. "I'm thrilled to be teaming up with Emily and I can't wait to watch her bring home another medal this year. To celebrate, we've created a burger that's so full, you might need to be a weightlifter just to lift it.

"We're also teaming up with Naomi Riches MBE, a cherished Marlow local, who has been a huge inspiration to everyone at The Butcher's Tap and Grill – we've even got a gold postbox in Marlow in honour of her!"
