The Three Horseshoes and The Marksman announce collaboration

The team from the Hackney institution will take charge of the kitchen at the Somerset pub with rooms on Wednesday, 7 May.

Margot Henderson OBE and head chef Nye Smith of The Three Horseshoes will join forces with Tom Harris and Jon Rotheram of The Marksman Public House this month.

The team from the Hackney institution will take charge of the kitchen at the Somerset pub with rooms, creating an exclusive menu for the evening.

A match made in heaven

The Three Horseshoes has become a landmark of Batcombe, Somerset, known for its no-nonsense dishes with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Maintaining many of the original features, the pub has been carefully restored with beamed ceilings, open fireplaces and flagstone floors, staying true to the old-school charm of the 17th-century building.

Similarly, Harris and Rotheram have become renowned in Hackney, celebrated for preserving The Marksman’s status and appearance as a "proper boozer", while introducing a menu honouring the diverse history of London’s culinary landscape.

Harris and Rotheram's approach is anchored in great produce and fuss-free cooking, which they'll bring to the countryside pub on 7 May. The duo have curated a menu that features such dishes as barley buns with horseradish cream, pressed pig’s head with chicory and radish, chicken and griolle pie and brown butter and honey tart.

Later this year, Henderson and Smith will join the team at The Marksman to celebrate the pub’s decade-long reign in the East End.

Henderson says of the partnership: "The Marksman is one of my favourite pubs in London with an impressive wine list and food that you really want to eat, I’m delighted that Tom and Jon will be joining us for the evening as our guests experience the very best of London out in the countryside."
