Heartwood Inns confirms Godalming opening date
The Ragged Robin in Godalming will open its doors on 17 June.

Pub and bar goers of Surrey will be excited to learn that Heartwood Inns will open its latest location in Godalming this summer, following a multi-million-pound renovation.
The former Beefeater, now renamed as The Ragged Robin, was acquired by Heartwood from Whitbread in May 2024. It will open its doors on 17 June, days before the 2025 National Pub & Bar Awards.
The property has been extended to include a spacious dining area at the rear, which opens onto a large garden with views of the River Wey. It features 19 boutique bedrooms, 200 internal dining and drinking seats, and an additional 124 outdoor covers.
"We're thrilled to invite guests to book their first stay at The Ragged Robin, our sixth pub with rooms, located in the charming town of Godalming," says Richard Ferrier, CEO of Heartwood Collection. "As always, we've dedicated a great deal of care to creating beautiful boutique bedrooms and a welcoming pub space that we hope will become a local favourite."
Award-winning pubs
News of The Ragged Robin's opening date arrived at the same time as the announcement of this year's National Pub & Bar Awards County Winner nominations, of which Heartwood received no less than five.
Attending the Grand Final in London on 24 June will be teams from The Rising Sun in Reading, The Jolly Farmer in Gerrards Cross, The Red Deer in Horsham, The Black Horse in Thame and The Highwayman in Berkhamsted.
The Ragged Robin will offer a seasonal, sustainable menu and an extensive wine and drinks list, including local beers and craft ales. The pub takes the group’s room offering across the six locations to more than 190 bedrooms.
Heartwood has plans to open two further standalone pubs in the spring, together with The George & Dragon, a 17-bedroom inn close to Marlow Bridge. A further three Heartwood Inn pubs are in the works for later in the year.
