Wells & Co. continues French estate investment
Wells & Co. operates 19 sites in France across nine cities.
Two pubs in Bordeaux have reopened this week, following almost £400,000 in renovations by owner Wells & Co.
The pub operator and brewer, which operates 19 sites in France across nine cities, completed both refurbishments in a matter of weeks.
Houses of Parliament saw a £155,000 investment, while The Market Tavern received a £244,000 refurbishment.
The Houses of Parliament, located in downtown Bordeaux, is Wells & Co.'s first site in France to benefit from the installation of two interactive darts lanes, capitalising on the country’s growing demand for social sporting experiences, something also seen on this side of the Channel.
The evolving needs of customers
"Our investment in both The Houses of Parliament and The Market Tavern in Bordeaux ensures that we can continue to meet the evolving needs of our customers," says Ariane Lapegue, director of operations for Wells & Co. France. "The introduction of the interactive darts at The Houses of Parliament follows the successful implementation across our UK estate and will be a valuable indicator in determining future roll-outs across the rest of our French sites.

The refurbishments in its French estate follows the acquisition of two new sites in 2024, which included the purchase of The Houses of Parliament, along with the Queen Elizabeth in Strasbourg in July 2024.
As well as investment in France, Wells & Co. has an extensive capital expenditure programme planned for 2025 to continue to appeal to UK customers, with several upgrades scheduled throughout the year.
Wells & Co. was founded in 1876 and is an independent, fifth generation, family-owned business with an estate of 180 pubs in the UK and 19 in France.
