Greene King thanks tech for festive bookings
Greene King says “new digital capabilities” have boosted bookings.

With pub and bar operators still analysing sales from the festive season, Greene King has revealed that "new digital capabilities" are to thank for a spike in its Christmas Day bookings.
The brewer and pub company saw a 30% increase in online Christmas Day bookings in its managed pubs versus last year, with a 13% increase in the month of December.
Following a multi-million-pound investment in its online presence, an improved customer experience has created a smoother booking process, which has been central to Greene King’s digital development. The changes have included the launch of a new web platform, data capability and a new app that has been downloaded by 2.5m users.
"Some 45m people visit one of our websites every year, and so investment in our digital capability to address this customer base has been a key part of our strategic transformation," says Clair Preston-Beer, COO of Greene King. "It’s therefore brilliant to see the tangible benefit of this investment in such an increase in online booking numbers during our important Christmas trading period.
"We are also delighted to have achieved our best ever customer experience scores in December, which is also encouraging more people to visit our pubs and is testament to the incredible work that our teams do up and down the country."
This phase of the company’s investment programme follows the roll out of super-fast, state-of-the-art internet across Greene King’s managed pub estate and support centres, which has given customers and team members access to fast download speeds with uninterrupted connectivity.
Greene King currently operates c.2,600 pubs, restaurants and hotels across England, Wales and Scotland.
