Renowned operators partner on Shoreditch pub
The Knave of Clubs will open in Shoreditch, led by James Dye and Benjy Leibowitz.

East London is set to have another impressive pub next month, with the arrival of The Knave of Clubs in Shoreditch.
James Dye, co-owner of The Camberwell Arms, and Benjy Leibowitz, formerly of JKS and The NoMad in NYC, have partnered to revive the site, with the calibre of previous projects creating justifiable excitement in the industry.
This project also marks the launch of High Note Hospitality, a new group founded by the duo. High Note Hospitality is planning to launch several multi-concept venues in across London in the next few years.
The four-storey Knave of Clubs, which will open 27 February, operated as French restaurant Les Trois Garcons until the mid-2000s. Following Dye and Leibowitz's renovation, the Grade II-listed building is set to return to its origins as a local pub for the first time in over 30 years.
"We are extremely excited to be restoring a beautiful building, with such a remarkable history, back to being a pub for the first time in over 30 years," says Dye. "With so many pubs closing in London, we felt it was incredibly important to step in and try to save this remarkable building."
What's on the menu?
The food at The Knave of Clubs will be led by culinary director Patrick Powell, who previously worked at Allegra, Midland Grand Dining Room and Chiltern Firehouse. Head chef of the pub will be Atilla Gellen, who worked with Po at Allegra.
In March, High Note Hospitality plans to open a second, separate restaurant, One Club Row, on the first floor of the building.
Centred around a custom rotisserie grill, food at The Knave is inspired by French markets and UK Sunday lunches. Rotisserie chicken will be The Knave’s signature dish, marinated in Chermoula and served with chicken fat potatoes cooked in the bottom of the grill.
Pub snacks will include venison sausage rolls with spiced ketchup; Prawn scotch eggs with chilli jam; and Fish cakes with old bay seasoning and lemon aioli. For weekday lunches there will be a selection of salads and sandwiches, including a signature Knave grilled cheese and a Pastrami sandwich with sauerkraut and Russian dressing.
