Freespirit takes on sixth pub

The Olde Coach House Inn, Freespirit’s sixth pub, is located in the village of Ashby St. Ledgers.

A picturesque village just outside of Daventry is the new home for Freespirit Pubs, the growing operator with a pub portfolio in the south of England.

The Olde Coach House Inn, Freespirit's sixth pub, is located in the village of Ashby St. Ledgers, with the Mark Higgs-led business opening its latest site this autumn.

The pub is a 16-bedroom property, featuring an extensive dining area and traditional bar space. It also boasts a large beer garden which Freespirit says is suited to events. The team plans to start work on a fresh redesign to get the site open before December, with planned pop-up events to get to know local residents and guests.

"I’m super excited to finally get this deal done," says Higgs. "We have been looking for a while for the next site, and I am confident we have found it. It ticks a lot of the boxes, now the fun begins in creating an amazing space and ambience for our team and guests to really enjoy."

Recruit from within

The Old Coach House Inn will be run by the Sylwia, who has previously worked at Freespirit sites The Castle, The Red Lion and The Sun Inn.

"I have been a part of the Freespirit family for three years now and I could not imagine being anywhere else," she says. "When I was asked to come on board with the new project, I felt super excited and nervous at the same time. I’ve always looked for new goals and challenges to make life more interesting. I believe that with the local support, we can make the coach house a raging success."

Higgs spoke with Pub & Bar magazine about his business earlier this year.
