Shepherd Neame launches pub pizza wagon
The new Shepherd Neame pizza wagon is called Little Tom.
A south east brewer and pub operator has unveiled its first pizza wagon, offering handmade sourdough pizzas to eat in or take away at its pubs.
The new Shepherd Neame wagon, called Little Tom, has been adapted to incorporate a bespoke pizza oven along with fridges for the ingredients and two hatches for the team to serve customers.
All pizzas are made fresh to order, using handcrafted sourdough bases and each pizza is presented in a cardboard box featuring a bespoke Little Tom-branded sticker, with the name of the customer and the topping handwritten on it.
"Pizza is always a popular choice with our customers, and now the Little Tom pizza wagon can allow us to offer fresh, handmade pizzas at any of our pubs and hotels," says Shepherd Neame’s head of food Sang Nguyen.
National Pizza Awards
Little Tom is currently situated at the Ship and Trades in Chatham Maritime. It will then be moving to The Limes in Faversham where it will be open during the Hop Festival weekend.
The launch coincides with entries for the 2024 National Pizza Awards closing in less than a month. The event invites chefs from the pub, restaurant and street food sectors to submit their signature recipes in a bid to claim the coveted National Pizza of the Year title.
Entries are free, but have to be submitted at nationalpizzaawards.co.uk before 13 September.
