Mix with Britvic to headline sponsor Classic Cocktail Competition

The Classic Cocktail Competition has announced that Mix with Britvic will headline sponsor the annual event later this year.
Returning to London on Monday 14 October, The Classic Cocktail Competition is a one-day cocktail showdown for pub, bar, hotel and restaurant bartenders. Its mission is to encourage bartenders to spend more time thinking about how to serve spectacular classic cocktails.
Following the launch of Mix with Britvic earlier this year, the two projects have come together based on a mutual mission to elevate classic cocktails around the country.
At the heart of Mix with Britvic is a digital training platform and comprehensive serve programme, designed to equip bartenders with the skills and inspiration to elevate mixed drinks using Britvic's vast portfolio to create over 10,000 serves – from morning coffees and smoothies, through to evening cocktails and mocktails.
"There’s a really nice fit between what we’re trying to achieve with Mix with Britvic and The Classic Cocktail Competition,” says Adam Russell, director of foodservice and licensed at Britvic. “Mix with Britvic isn’t trying to push things too far – we want to take the basics of cocktails and bring everyone up to a certain level.
"If an outlet is struggling to offer cocktails, yes, we’ve got a platform that will help create a basic menu, but The Classic Cocktail Competition goes beyond what a traditional Margarita or Negroni might be. That’s the second part of Mix with Britvic – it adds the inspiration and ability to personalise things. Just like The Classic Cocktail Competition, it's about taking a classic cocktail and encouraging bartenders to put their own spin on it. There’s a great synergy between the two projects."
Entries are now open
At the live event, 15 elite bartenders are required to make six different classic cocktails each, all served in their own signature style.
With entries now open, bartenders are invited to register their interest via The Classic Cocktail Competition website.
Last year, Ed Garner, area training manager for bar group Nightcap, was crowned a UK cocktail champion after dominating the inaugural Classic Cocktail Competition on 16 October 2023.
