Thornbridge pub scoops top pie award

The pub entered its classic Beef Shin, Potato and Lord Marples Pie.

The Cricket Inn, a Thornbridge Brewery pub in Sheffield, has won top recognition at the 2024 British Pie Awards.

The pub entered its classic Beef Shin, Potato and Lord Marples Pie into this year’s contest, which came in the top three for the whole of the UK in the Pub Pie Category.

Thornbridge says it is a mainstay on the menu at The Cricket Inn and a favourite with the regulars. Head chef Oliver Parnell and sous chef Neil Shelley attended the awards lunch in March.

"Our Beef Shin, Potato and Lord Marples Pie is a big favourite at The Cricket Inn and we’re really proud to see it be recognised at the British Pie Awards," says Simon Webster, co-founder and CEO of Thornbridge Brewery.

The British Pie Awards, which runs during British Pie Week, is an annual event hosted in Melton Mowbray. Running since 2009, the awards are a national celebration of British pies in all their varieties.

The Cricket Inn is located in Sheffield on Penny Lane, Totley.
