Diageo World Class open for entries

Diageo World Class is back for its 15th year.

One of the biggest bartending competitions in the world is back, with the challenge briefs for Great Britain entries now live

The Diageo World Class competition presents an opportunity for bartenders to learn from some of the best talent in the industry, extend their network within the drinks community and win the opportunity to represent their country in the World Class Global Finals taking place in Shanghai, China, in September 2024.

"Fifteen years of World Class has delivered some incredible talent and left amazing legacies all over Great Britain and I can’t wait to find some new bartenders this year," says Pippa Guy, World Class GB ambassador. "World Class is an incredible opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills, showcase your expertise on a national stage and become part of a cocktail community that spans the globe – what are you waiting for?!”

How it works

The first stage of the competition will see bartenders from across Great Britain submit a maximum of two serves during the entry phase to be in with a chance of placing in the top 100.

No. TEN and The Singleton have been specifically devised to ensure the World Class GB judges really get to know every bartender who enters. The No. TEN challenge asks entrants to craft the ultimate No. TEN welcome drink that reflects the signature style of their bar, while The Singleton challenge asks for a cocktail representing the bartender’s drinks style and personality.

For the first time, all bartenders who make it into the top 100 will then automatically have their bar entered into the World Class Cocktail Festival, a new cocktail festival open to the public which will be running throughout GB from 9 March to 30 April.

The GB grand final will take place in June, with finalists showcasing their skills to the great and good of the GB drinks industry. Last year's GB winner was Matt Arnold from Passing Fancies (pictured).
