Country Creatures has announced it will open The Double Red Duke in February 2021, a new addition for the family of pubs and inns run by husband and wife duo Sam and Georgie Pearman.
The 17th century coaching inn is located east of Oxford and will boast 19 bedrooms, and a menu centred around an open-fire kitchen overseen by Richard Turner.
Turner, renowned for his work with Hawksmoor and Pitt Cue, has been brought on board to work with Sam and head chef Richard Sandiford. Together, they have created a menu that will celebrate large grilled meats and vegetables as a centrepiece, with a host of sides and small plates. There will also be a 14-seater kitchen counter where guests can watch the chefs cook directly over the fire.
Country Creatures is midway through a considerable restoration project, including a large refurbishment and extension of the current building to accommodate further hotel bedrooms, a larger dining space and bar, and a garden room adorned that will lead out to the gardens.
As well as the 19 bedrooms, The Double Red Duke, named after a character from local folklore, will comprise a number of ‘snugs’ and sitting rooms, and a 12-seat feasting room. The Garden Room will be available to be hired exclusively for private parties of up to 40.
The Pearmans have a wealth of experience from owning and running The Lucky Onion Group over a period of 10 years. Since then, they have set up new venture Country Creatures, which specialises in restaurants, inns and hotels that focus on great British hospitality.
