Young’s has reopened The Spread Eagle in Wandsworth, London, following a major refurbishment.
Set to be a flagship pub for the operator, the Grade II-listed site marks the return of the Young’s head office to its historical Wandsworth home, where the brewery was established in 1831.
Previously based on the outskirts of the town, the HQ will now be back in the centre, featuring a new office space and training and development kitchen directly behind the pub.
"Wandsworth is very much Young’s hometown and we are delighted to be back establishing our head office in the heart of town," says Patrick Dardis, chief executive of Young & Co. "On the doorstep to the old brewery, The Spread Eagle has undergone a huge transformation and we are looking forward to welcoming locals back into this landmark Victorian pub.”
Headed up by landlord Connal Donovan, The Spread Eagle now features 21 boutique bedrooms and decorative touches such as etched glass, reclaimed wooden floorboards, brass fittings, vintage leather furnishings and open fireplaces.
The menus, created by head chef David Waller, focus on seasonal British produce with dishes including a catch-of-the-day and local premium prime cuts from Butcher’s Table and Godfrey’s.
