Judges announced for Champion of Champions burger cook-off
Organisers of the awards have now revealed which industry names will be sat around the prestigious judging table.
The panel of judges for the National Burger Awards Champions of Champions event have been announced, as the industry prepares for the biggest burger cook-off of the year.
On 3 September 2024, 30 previous winners and chefs of the National Burger Awards will gather in London to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the event and compete in the Champion of Champions to see which signature burger will establish its place in history.
Organisers of the awards have now revealed which industry names will be sat around the prestigious judging table. Taking on a day of burger tasting will be:
- Sally Abé (pictured right), star of Great British Menu and consultant chef at The Pem
- Candice Brown (pictured left), landlady at The Green Man Eversolt and GBBO winner
- Jesse Burgess (pictured middle), co-founder of Topjaw
- Xanthe Clay, food writer for The Telegraph
- Leonie Cooper, food and drink editor at Time Out
- Tom Griffiths, chef director at The Roof Gardens
- Tamsyn Halm, editor of OOH Magazine
- Tristan O’Hana, editorial director of H2O Publishing
- Olivia Reid, head of food at Market Halls
Among the 30 finalists are two-time winners Bleecker and El Perro Negro, as well as popular outfits such as Danny’s Burgers, The Beefy Boys and Whole Beast. The Champion of Champions will even see businesses that are no longer operating relaunch for one day only, including Cut + Grind, Bun Club and the team behind Mac & Wild.
What’s more, a Wild Card round has also been added, featuring four former chefs who scored highly at a previous final. This round features MEATliquor, Lagom, Nanny Bill’s and Cubitt House. The full list of finalists can be found below.
