Hall & Woodhouse invests £2.5m into tenanted estate
Hall & Woodhouse investment included a £250,000 renovation of the historic Dolphin Hotel.
Pub operator and brewer Hall & Woodhouse has revealed it invested more than £2.5m into its Business Partner (tenanted) pubs in 2025.
The investment included a £250,000 on a major renovation of the historic Dolphin Hotel in Bovey Tracey, Devon, which the business acquired in 2021.
Hall & Woodhouse says it has continued to invest heavily in maintaining its entire estate over the last 12 months, adapting to changes in consumer trends towards casual dining and coffee.
At The Dolphin, the company completely renovated the main pub areas to create a space designed to welcome all-day trade.
"Our major investment scheme for The Dolphin at Bovey Tracey has brought this pub up to match the highest standards seen across our estate," says Trevor Hartin, business partnerships commercial manager at Hall & Woodhouse. "We know that guests are looking for warm, cosy and flexible spaces, to enjoy everything from coffee in the morning to pints and small plates in the evening."
Hall & Woodhouse was founded in 1777 by Charles Hall, a Dorset farmer, who opened a brewery in the village of Ansty. After nearly 250 years, the company remains family owned, with Anthony Woodhouse and Tatiana Woodhouse both in the business as the current seventh and eighth generation stewards respectively.
The business has a collection of c.150 ful pubs that make up its managed house and tenanted estate.
