Country Creatures prepares The Wild Duck opening

Country Creatures will open The Wild Duck Inn next month.

Sam and Georgie Pearman's Country Creatures business will open its third site in March, welcoming The Wild Duck Inn to the Cotswolds-based portfolio.

Located in the town of Ewen, the 16th century coaching inn was originally the gardener’s cottage to the nearby Ewen Manor.

Following the success of Country Creatures sister sites The Double Red Duke and The Mason’s Arms in Clanfield, the Pearman's have been restoring the once derelict building into a pub with rooms.

In total, 19 new bedrooms are being added to the pub, as well as two treatment rooms, offering guests Herbal Compress Massages and Beauty Ritual Facials. Many of the rooms will also have their own private terraces.

The pub will be overseen by general manager George Dean, who previously ran The Barley Mow in Mayfair and The Builders Arms in Chelsea, both part of the Pearman's London-based Cubitt House business.

With The Wild Duck also housing a 110-seat restaurant, food will be led by group executive chef James Adams, who has worked in kitchens around London, including Spring and The River Café.

Alongside head chef Richard Sandiford (Hawksmoor, Bistrotheque), Adams will produce dishes centred around some of the duo's favourite suppliers.

The menu begins with bar snacks, with dishes including half pint langoustine scampi and tartar; and gruyere, cheddar and tomato toastie; before moving into larger plates such as wood-roasted brown trout with beetroot and horseradish Pink Firs; and whole roast duck, served with turnip gratin.

The Wild Duck Inn will open on 2 March 2026.
