New £4m Urban Fun site heading to Kingston

Funbox Entertainment is preparing to open its second Urban Fun site.

A former Wilko site in Kingston upon Thames is being transformed into a new "social playground", as Funbox Entertainment prepares to open its second Urban Fun site.

The build will cost around £4m, eventually delivering a multi-experiential, cashless concept, where guests can partake in duck-pin bowling, darts, 9-hole themed mini golf, Subsoccer football, axe throwing, curling lanes, American pool and shuffleboard.

There will also be a 12-person private karaoke room and an arcade featuring UK-first machines. Urban Fun’s Gamergreen digital redemption system allows players to win tickets, choose prizes online and have them delivered directly to their door via Amazon Prime, which is thought to be a world-first innovation in leisure entertainment.

"Urban Fun Kingston is all about creating unforgettable moments for everyone, whether you’re coming with family, colleagues or friends," says Matthew Deith, managing director of Funbox Entertainment.

"There’s nowhere else like it where you’ll find this mix of entertainment, technology and hospitality all in one place. Kingston is just the start of our journey to bring next-level leisure experiences to town centres across the UK."

Be a good sport

The Kingston venue is Funbox Entertainment's second Urban Fun project, joining the debut in Reading.

Complementing the attractions are two bars, a food offering and live sports shown across multiple screens.

"The opening of Urban Fun is a huge win for Kingston town centre," adds Kirsten Henly, chief executive of Kingston First. "Urban Fun not only creates jobs and brings new life to the high street but also gives residents and visitors another brilliant reason to come together and enjoy everything our town has to offer."
