Boom Battle Bar owner enjoys profitable year
XP Factory has seen growth in revenue and profits.
The owner and operator of Boom Battle Bar has increased its revenue and profits over the past 12 months, according to its latest financial results.
XP Factory, which also owns the Escape Hunt brand, saw group revenue to 31 March 2025 increase by 19% to £57.8m, compared to £48.6m in the prior year.
The growth is attributed to the number of openings across both brands over the past year.
Escape Hunt owner-operated site revenue increased by 7% to £14.2m, while Boom Battle Bar owner-operated revenue increased by 29% to £42.2m.
Group adjusted EBITDA rose to £10.5m from £9.9m, while adjusted operating profit was £3.5m.
Where was the growth?
New sites included an owner-operated Boom Battle Bar in Cambridge in December 2024, with franchise sites in Wandsworth, Aldgate East, Bournemouth, Southampton and Ipswich. For Escape Hunt, new owner-operated venues opened in Worcester, Glasgow and at shared site in Cambridge in September, October and December 2024 respectively.
"The year to March 2025 represents another successful period of development for XP Factory, with underlying operating metrics showing continued positive improvement," says Richard Harpham, chief executive of XP Factory. "While the business is having to cope with increased costs from government policy and a challenging first quarter has posed operational challenges,we have made significant progress towards our strategic goals and remain resolute in pursuit of success."
Escape Hunt provides escape-the-room experiences delivered through a network of owner-operated sites in the UK, an international network of franchised outlets and through digitally delivered games which can be played remotely.
Boom Battle Bar is a network of owner-operated and franchise sites in the UK that combine competitive socialising activities with themed cocktails, drinks and street food. Activities include a range of games such as augmented reality darts, Bavarian axe throwing, ‘crazier golf’, shuffleboard and others.
