Pubs prepare for Women's Euros increase
An estimated 2.6m extra pints could be drunk in pubs and bars during the Women’s Euros.

An estimated 2.6m extra pints could be drunk in pubs and bars during the UEFA Women’s Euro tournament, which kicks off on Wednesday 2 July.
Fans of England and Wales, who are in the same group, will watch their teams begin their respective campaigns on Saturday 5 July. Wales play Netherlands at 5pm, followed by France v England at 8pm.
New statistics from the British Beer and Pub Association statistics reveal that extra beer sales could boost the economy by £13m, generating an extra £3.4m for the Treasury.
Pubs and bars are be able to stay open for longer if England or Wales reach the semi-finals and finals.
"The pub has forever been regarded as a home away from home, especially for sports fans, so it’s no surprise that fans will be flocking to the pub to cheer on our brilliant teams," says Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the British Beer and Pub Association.
"However, UK pub goers will pay the fourth highest beer duty compared to the other nations, a totally unfair situation which highlights why government must level the playing field and reduce beer duty.
"This reduction will help unlock the sector’s potential to drive even more growth for the economy, boost jobs, and means our communities aren’t paying more than our European neighbours."
