Urban Pubs & Bars invests £1m into Camberwell

Urban Pubs & Bars has reopened The Sun in Camberwell.

The Sun of Camberwell in south east London has reopened its doors, following a £1m investment from Urban Pubs & Bars.

Located on Coldharbour Lane, close to Camberwell Green and Loughborough Junction, The Sun has been a beloved hub for the local community for decades.

The pub was acquired by Urban last year, when it bought 11 sites from Antic.

The six-week refurbishment includes a completely revamped kitchen, newly landscaped front and rear outdoor areas, and refreshed interiors.

The centrepiece of the refurbishment is the expansive rear garden, now among the largest pub gardens in the Camberwell area.

"The Sun is one of our most cherished neighbourhood pubs, and we’re excited to be investing in its future," says Chris Hill, managing director of Urban Pubs & Bars. "The upgraded kitchen and garden areas, alongside a strong food-led offer, reflect our commitment to providing great hospitality in great spaces."

Ready for summer

The front terrace has also been redesigned as a street-facing space to enhance the overall guest experience.

Inside, the upgraded kitchen highlights a renewed focus on food and dining. A seasonal British menu takes centre stage. Guests can enjoy modern pub dishes and bar snacks, with highlights including Sunday roasts featuring a sharing lamb shoulder, all prepared in the open kitchen within the dining space.

Function space The Parlour is available for private hire and can accommodate up to 40 guests.
