Staffordshire pub wins £5,000 of crisps

The Tavern in Denstone has won £5,000 worth of crisps from Tyrrells.

The Tavern in Denstone, Staffordshire, has been announced as the winner of £5,000 worth of crisps from Tyrrells

Marking the inaugural year of The League of Tyrrellbly Good Taste, the National Pub & Bar Awards headline sponsor entered all those who signed up to receive free display items into a prize draw, with the promise of thousands of pounds worth of crisps to the winner.

"I didn’t think we’d stand a chance at all – we’re only a little village pub," says chef-owner of The Tavern Keiren Oldroyd-Clark. "In the first instance, I signed up because I thought the POS would be useful and it absolutely has been. Customers come in for a drink, smell food but don’t necessarily want a full meal and grab a packet of crisps instead.

"We only took over the pub in July last year and we made the switch to Tyrrells pretty quickly. We know we’re in a village where our customers like quality so it was an easy decision really – the packets are bigger, they look better, they taste great."

The League of Tyrrellbly Good Taste 2.0 will be revealed later this year.

Entries to the 2025 National Pub & Bar Awards are now open. Pubs and bars can enter via nationalpubandbarawards.co.uk.
