Urban Pubs & Bars unveils new site in Bank
Urban Pubs & Bars has launched The Wren Tavern in Bank.
An expanding premium pub and dining group in London has announced the opening of its latest venue.
Urban Pubs & Bars has launched The Wren Tavern in Bank as a tribute to Sir Christopher Wren, the designer of St Paul's Cathedral.
The traditional London pub on Watling Street now features a whiskey lounge and a speakeasy cocktail bar called 5cc in the basement.
"When Sir Christopher Wren designed St Paul’s Cathedral his plans were made on Watling Street, his workers lived, ate and spent their time on this street too," says a spokesperson for Urban Pubs & Bars. "In a tribute to the man himself, The Wren Tavern brings the best of traditions to a city pub environment."
What's on the menu?
The Urban Pubs & Bars chefs have designed a menu that includes fresh sandwiches that change daily; a bar snacks menu which includes oysters; and, in the evenings the chefs will elevate the offerings with steaks and a sharing butcher’s block.
On the ground floor, there’s a selection of whiskeys and craft beer. The Whiskey Vault room includes lockers so that guests can purchase bottles of personalised whiskey and also book whiskey tastings and mixology masterclasses with brand ambassadors.
This year, Urban Pubs & Bars has already opened several sites, including Spitalfields pub The Gun and The Red Setter located in the Northcote Road community between Battersea and Clapham. It recently announced the acquisition of 11 locations from the former Antic Pub Company.
