Red Oak Taverns has completed its first acquisition of 2023, purchasing three freehold pubs from Marston’s.

Two of the pubs are located in the Midlands and one is in the south west. They are The Bird in Hand in Atherstone; The Black Horse in Sheepy Magna; and The Railway in Cheltenham.

"This a great start to the year with our continuing acquisition programme enhancing our growing pub estate," says Mark Grunnell, co-founder and chief executive of Red Oak. "By focusing on multiple and single site pub packages we are evolving our diverse portfolio, providing unique and flexible pub opportunities within the sector. We are looking forward to welcoming the new tenant partners to our business”.

Founded in 2011 by Aaron Brown and Grunnell, Red Oak Taverns comprises over 200 mainly leased and tenanted pubs.

"Delighted to see three more pubs added to our expanding estate," adds Graeme Bunn, property and acquisitions director. "Our team worked swiftly and enabled the purchase to be completed in under 4 weeks from agreed Heads of Terms”.

The new pubs are all operated free-of-tie.
