Young's announces CEO succession

Young's Pubs & Co. has announced that Patrick Dardis will step down as chief executive officer at the company's upcoming AGM on 5 July. Dardis will be succeeded by Simon Dodd, chief operating officer, who was recruited three years ago with succession planning in mind.

Dardis will remain on the Board and oversee Dodd's transition into the role until he retires at the end of September. He will remain available to the company for the remainder of his notice period, which runs until the end of March 2023.

With more than a decade's experience within the pub and brewing sector, Dodd is well placed for his new role. Prior to joining Young's, he was on the Board of Fuller, Smith & Turner PLC, and before that with Orchid Pub Company. He has also held several brand and marketing roles within hospitality.

Dodd's predecessor has enjoyed a successful 20-year career at Young's, 19 of which have been on the Board and the last six years as CEO. Dardis steered the company through the challenges of the pandemic, but with trading now returning to normal, Young's is looking to further invest in the business.

"Now is the right time to hand over the reins to Simon and the rest of the team at Young's," says Dardis. I leave behind a great business, in good shape with a very talented team. It has been a privilege to lead a business with so many fantastic people in it and I would like to thank all of my colleagues for their support and contribution over the last 20 years."
