The award-winning Secret Pub Company has taken on its second pub, The New Trent in Radcliffe on Trent.
Together with Star Pubs & Bars, the company is investing £450,000 in the pub, which will see it reopen as The Radcliffe, creating 25 jobs.
The Secret Pub Company is run by David Hage and Mark Osborne and already looks after The Railway at Lowdham, the National Pub & Bar Awards 2019 County Winner for Nottinghamshire. In 2018, it was the Regional Winner for East Midlands.
The Radcliffe will emulate The Railway in terms of food being a major focus when it opens at the end of July.
The space will include a bar area and two dining areas seating 80. It is being designed to be open and airy, with the pass allowing diners to see food being prepared and floor-to-ceiling glass walls and patio doors leading onto the terrace.
Original fireplaces are being restored, cookery books will sit by the bar and a centrepiece table with pots and pans hung above will seat 10.
Outside, there will be the addition of a bar for private parties and two terraces seating 80. One of the terraces will also be available for hire in the summer, with a stone baked pizza oven for parties. There will also be a children’s play area.
“The success of The Railway surpassed even our expectations,” says Hage. “It’s been fantastic. We’ve done what we set out to do which is to build a brand and business famous for offering consistent great quality service, food and drinks and developed an exciting calendar of events.
“It was always our intention to open three pubs in the area in four years. We’ve bided our time waiting for the right opportunity, which we now have with The Radcliffe. It’s got a good-sized kitchen, garden and carpark and is in a super catchment area. To make it work it needed significant investment and to change radically, which is what we’re doing.
