Stonegate Pub Company has spent £400,000 transforming the Walkabout bar in Exeter into a new venue called The Exonian.
The new venue features relaxed workspaces, ‘social squirrels’ website, multiple sports screenings, live music, and modern essentials like charging points, free printing and high speed Wi-Fi. In addition, there is an indoor ‘Garden Zone’, with astro-turf and stripy deckchairs, as well as neon lighting and an abstract mural of Exeter.
Drinks include a 10-tap cider wall, four cask ales and six rotating craft beers. Seven new staff has extended the team, freshly trained to shake and stir retro inspired cocktails with sweets and boozy smoothies.
“You can work here, play here, and be alone or party,” comments manager Esther Hollick. “Bingo, smartphone speed quiz, clash of the bands, man vs food challenges, we’ve got it all – even our ‘draught a craft laugh’ creates fun on social media with a craft beer prize.”
